The Penggaram Bridge was officially was inaugurated by the late Tun Abdul Razak bin Dato' Hussein, the second Prime Minister of Malaysia, on July 1, 1967. Today, this bridge serves as an important transportation infrastructure, spanning the Batu Pahat River.

Although detailed historical records of the bridge itself are not as widely documented as larger national landmarks, it was built as part of Malaysia's ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and connectivity in the country during the late 20th century.

The bridge has helped facilitate economic growth in Batu Pahat by making it easier for people and goods to move between the town and its surrounding areas. Over the years, the Penggaram Bridge has become a key local landmark, contributing to the town's infrastructure development.
